Nagesh Goud

One of the most respected names in the art space, Nagesh Goud’s internationally acclaimed works are unmatched in the stories they tell. His meticulously detailed works bring to life the drama and theatrics from mythology, especially from the epics -the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. He has displayed a mastery over different mediums such as acrylics, pen and ink, water colours, and oils.

Deftly balancing the union of the figurative and the semi-abstract styles, his paintings use familiar motifs from the epics and bring to life stories within richly drawn outlines. The characters’ outlines are well-etched, and intricate narratives with episodes from the lives of the characters mesmerises the viewer. His works are reminiscent of the traditional leather puppetry of Andhra Pradesh and influenced by the State’s kalamkari art form. His singular style seamlessly merges monochromatic with a mix of vibrant and earthy shades. An exceptional piece showcased as a part of Lagaav is Kamadhenu, an intaglio print on Fabriano paper.

Nagesh graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University as a gold medalist and has since been a part of numerous shows in a career spanning over 25 years. Today his work is unparalleled in its popularity and critical acclaim.
