Biplab is interested in the lives of the people around him with a sharp focus on the working class and takes inspiration from the Company School of Painting and the Indian Miniatures.

His Glenfiddich Artists in Residence program in Scotland, served as a catalyst for his artistic journey, enabling him to continue pushing the boundaries of watercolor art and leaving an indelible mark on the art world.

Hailing from Siliguri, West Bengal, Sarkar went to Kala-Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, West Bengal for his Bachelors. Later, he completed his M.F.A from the College of Art, Delhi University.
