An ode to beautiful places, expressed on canvas, inviting the viewer to a
reverie - Ashif Hossain's works are his love language for places that
fascinate him. However far we may travel from our roots, there is a magnetism of old cities and places that still define "home" for us. It is this
homage to home, and to the sanctity of the ghats of Benares that have
been this artist's muse. In the pristine views of the ghats, Ashif's work
reflects a beauty that transcends a simple visual representation and
reminds him of peace and spirituality.

What our eyes see as a simple view of the riverbanks or a rainy day in
Mumbai, attains a dreamlike, ethereal beauty with the gentle brushstrokes
and bold interplay of colours and monochromes on Ashif's canvas. His
abiding love for nature, inspired by his mother, flows like poetry in
acrylic in all his works.

A graduate from the Calcutta Government College of Art and Craft,
Ashif's works have been exhibited at various solo shows across the
country. The cityscapes are a celebration of the beauty of nature, viewed
through the eyes of true passion for the subject.
